Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering

ABOUT US

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering was started in the year 1995 with an objective to develop professionals through quality education. The Department offers B.E. programme in Electronics and Communication Engineering and M.E. programme in Applied Electronics with a vision to create a center of excellence for imparting technical expertise of the highest order and to provide career focused programme to produce globally competent professionals.The Department faculty is a mix of industrial and academic expertise. The blend of the two imparts knowledge with innovative ideas to the students in the teaching-learning process. In the teaching-learning process, the students are given assignments and are made to work out exercise problems to equip themselves for the examination which is done apart from the three common assessment tests conducted every month. The class teachers identify slow learners and give them special training to enable them to cope with the other peers in the respective class. The meritorious students are given special training on current research areas. The Department has signed the Memorandum of Understanding with M/s.Microlec, M/s.Vi Microsystems and M/s.Raghuram Associates. The major objective of MoU is to promote research, disseminate knowledge, cooperation and exchange of ideas between the academic community and industrial organizations, develop entrepreneurship among the students, design and development of curriculum in new areas of Science and Engineering, particularly with short and long term courses which will have benefit to the faculty. It also helps the department to organize conferences, seminars, short-term programs, symposia, workshops and refresher courses. The alumni of our Department visit the college regularly, share their experience in the industry with the final and pre-final year students and motivate them for higher studies. They also discuss the intricacies in facing interviews.

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering is committed to the following cherished tasks:-

- To enable students to be fully equipped to face the challenges in the outside world armed with expert knowledge and skills which they have gained in the college through the state of the art technology.
- To train them as highly skilled technocrats humane, humble and value consciousness.To enrich their own life and that of community.

LABORATORY FACILITIES

The following laboratories are available in the Department.

Electron Devices Laboratory

The Electron Devices Lab is equipped with high end Function Generators, Oscilloscopes and Digital Storage Oscilloscopes. Circuit Simulation Softwares like OrCAD, PSpice are also available in this laboratory.

Linear Integrated Circuits Laboratory

The lab also hosts variety of digital IC testers, LCR bridge and digital IC trainer kits.

Microwave & Communication Laboratory

The Microwave & Communication Lab is well equipped with all required equipments like various Microwave benches, antenna trainer kits, Fiber Optic kits, RF Modules etc. Special facilities like The Anechoic Chamber, Optical Time Domain Reflectometer and Spectrum Analyzers are also available.
                                                                    
Digital Signal Processing Laboratory

The DSP lab is well equipped with Digital Signal Processor kits, Advanced Digital Signal Processor kits and licensed software including MathCAD, MATLAB and VSIM which helps the students in various designs and simulation projects of the latest trends.
                                                                    
VLSI Lab

The VLSI lab is setup specifically for VLSI experiments. This lab is highly equipped with Spartan / CPLD / Virtex FPGA kits.
                                                                    
Networks Lab

Network simulation softwares like CYGWIN, NS - 2 simulators and LAN trainer kits are also available.



DEPARTMENTAL ACTIVITIES

Seminars

Seminars on Wireless Communication, Secured Routing on Mobile Adhoc Networks, Matlab, Advanced Digital Signal Processing, Concepts of Networks and various other topics are conducted regularly for the benefit of Staffs and students.

Guest Lectures

The department regularly invites various honorable personalities working in the same field to enlighten student’s knowledge .Topics like Wireless Communication, Education in rural India, Current Industries Scenario, Behavioral Attitude, Satellite Communication and How to handle interviews were covered during these lectures.

Workshops

The department conducts workshops on recent trends like Wireless Network, Computer Networking, Research in Speech and Image Processing, Advanced Digital Signal Processing, VLSI, Matlab etc by various experts.

Confrrence

“Integrated aspects on Communication and Computing”, JCECON’08 was organized by the department. Students presented papers in areas like VLSI, Artificial Neural Networks, Network Security, Digital Image Processing, Embedded Systems etc in various National and International ConferencesCO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES Students are encouraged to participate in Co-curricular activities like Paper presentation, Quiz, Circuit Debugging, Crosswords, Treasure hunt etc . The symposiums are regularly conducted for the benefit of the students. Industrial Visits and Local Tours are arranged for students every year. Some of the places of visit are:
