To produce high profile future Electrical experts, endowed with high quality knowledge of automation and other allied electrical sciences, sufficiently capable of proving their professional mettle in the present - day competitive world with confidence.
ABOUT US
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering is headed by Mr. S. Nagarajan, an eminent person in the area of Control Systems.
The Department offers an undergraduate Degree Programme since 1995 and a post graduate course on Power Electronics and Drives from 2003. The Department has a Research Centre in collaboration with Anna University for the past three years, which enable the internal and external staff to pursue research work. Presently 14 research scholars are guided by the efficient supervisors of the Research Centre.
The highlight of the Department is that, the Department has highly qualified faculty members with one Professor, one Assistant Professor, two Associate Professors and nine Lecturers of which six are doing their research work. The students and staff are highly benefited by Dr.G.Sambandan, Principal who has both industrial and teaching experience.
Dr. S. Rama Reddy is a resource person in many subjects, especially
in the area of Power Systems, Power Electronics, Machines, EMT etc.
He is presently guiding six number of faculty members for their research.
The Department has well equipped labs and well facilitated staff room, totally covering an area of 1095 sq.m. The Department provides various facilities such as research activities, licensed software packages, to enable research scholar and faculty members to carryout research activities
The overall result for the last graduated batch was 72%. Most of the students are placed in software and core companies through campus interviews. Students are exposed to leading companies in the pre-final year and are encouraged to go for inplant training and industrial visits.
In the year 2003 NBA Accreditation was obtained for UG programme. The Post Graduate programme in Power Electronics and Drives commenced in the 2003.
The Department has sought approval for collaborative research with Anna University so as to enable Ph.D registration within our college.
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering offers the following UG and PG fulltime programmes as per the curriculum of Anna University.
* B.E-Electrical and Electronics Engineering - 4 years
* M.E-Power Electronics and Drives - 2 Years
INFRASTRUCTURE
The Department is well equipped with various laboratories:
Electrical Machines Laboratory
The lab is equipped with different kinds of motors and generators such as Shunt, squirrel cage motor, series motor, AC and DC generator, etc…
Power Electronics Laboratory
This lab is well equipped with different kinds of experimental kits useful for power system analysis.
Measurement and Instrumentation Laboratory
The lab is useful for students for doing simulation related projects. The lab is well equipped with latest simulation software like MATLAB.
Control System Laboratory
The lab is equipped with 8085 kits, MASM software, 8051 kit etc… Interfacing of these kits is also available.
Micro-processor and controller
The lab is equipped with 8085 kits, MASM software, 8051 kit etc… Interfacing of these kits is also available.
Power System Simulation Laboratory
This lab is equipped with number of computers loaded with the latest software like MATHCAD, ETAP, PSPICE, etc which are useful for the students to do their projects.
